No, Not That Horned God

Celebrate your Christian faith with a touch of that ol’ Pagan mystique: the “Holy Shed.” The "holy shed" antler cross

That is “shed” in the sense of naturally shed deer or elk antlers, which some people like to collect for decor projects or for sale to be powdered for Asian men who have not yet discovered Viagra.

And here I grew up with the perception that Christianity stopped at the edge of town. With your cast-resin antler cross, it does not have to!

  1. Last Christmas we were up at a resort near Asheville, NC (just visiting the national gingerbread house competition entries set up in the lobbies :), and they had a plethora of resin antler-based decorations on the various trees set up about the place. I will admit to really wanting one for our Solstice tree, but the particular model I wanted was not for sale in the gift shop.

I also wanted to add an ornament of the All-Father hanging on the World Tree, but my wife wouldn’t let me… 😀

  2. I’ve been reading a book about the mountains of Georgia (Causcasus, not Deliverance), which has often mentioned collections of horns of tur and various antlers surrounding the icons at Orthodox shrines. Certainly appeals to me!
