It is that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucumberlands.edu\/directory\/dr-jefferson-calico\">author Jefferson Calico<\/a> can move beyond rehashing the folkish-universalist issue and look at some things not normally talked about, such as social class.<\/p>\n<p>Americans will talk you to death about race and ethnicity, but then turn around and pretend that the high-level university bureaucrat with a summer home on Martha&#8217;s Vineyard and the guy making a lot of overtime pay in a Texas oilfield are both earning &#8220;middle-class salaries.&#8221; While the English divide social-class issues with a <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Microtome\">microtome<\/a>, we pretend that we all aspire to the same thing.<\/p>\n<p>That is just one way that <em>Being Viking <\/em>moves beyond the radical politics-obsessed approach taken by authors such as Jennifer Snook in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/1439910979\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=1439910979&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=soutrocknatub-20&amp;linkId=9d5cbdeef95e1ae38aadfba52d626003\"><em>American Heathens <\/em><\/a>or Mattias Gardell\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0822330717\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=0822330717&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=soutrocknatub-20&amp;linkId=c337cf4ed76c7499f46187249b91eefe\"><em> Gods of the Blood<\/em><\/a>. (If you look at Gardell&#8217;s publishing history, he jumps from one sensational topic to another.)
