{"id":970,"date":"2008-01-04T23:46:00","date_gmt":"2008-01-04T23:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.chasclifton.com\/?p=970"},"modified":"2008-01-04T23:46:00","modified_gmt":"2008-01-04T23:46:00","slug":"not-getting-the-whole-blogging-concept","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.chasclifton.com\/?p=970","title":{"rendered":"Not Getting the Whole Blogging Concept"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some people just do not get the concept &#8212; in this case, the concept of blogging.<\/p>\n<p>When you write a blog, you either link to a web site you have visited (<em>blog<\/em> = web log, remember) and you <strong>comment<\/strong> on it. Even a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.instapundit.com\">Glenn Reynolds-ish<\/a> &#8220;Heh&#8221; counts as a comment.<\/p>\n<p>Or you write what amounts to an online diary entry. Those are the two main types of blogging.<\/p>\n<p>But lately, thanks to Google Alerts, I noticed that some Pagan bloggers think that cutting and pasting Wikipedia entries counts as blogging. Examples: <a href=\"http:\/\/samanthasweet576.blogspot.com\/2007\/12\/wiccan.html\">1<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/paganmagick.blogspot.com\/2007\/12\/wicca.html\">2<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/interfaithstudies.blogspot.com\/2007\/12\/wicca.html\">3<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/eponabri.multiply.com\/journal\/item\/5750\/Wicca\">4<\/a>. There are probably more.<\/p>\n<p>If you cannot link-and-comment, or write about your day (or night), then there is always the Japanese option: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2007\/12\/05\/AR2007120502751.html?hpid=artslot\">Tell what you ate for lunch<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>&lang;\/RANT&rang;<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, read Doug Cowan&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0415969115?ie=UTF8&#038;tag=chascli-20&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325&#038;creativeASIN=0415969115\">Cyberhenge: Modern Pagans on the Internet<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=chascli-20&#038;l=as2&#038;o=1&#038;a=0415969115\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important; margin:0px !important;\" \/> for a broader perspective than I can offer in a blog.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some people just do not get the concept &#8212; in this case, the concept of blogging.
