The Minoan civilization is one of mine.<\/p>\n<p>Tropaion links to a Discovery Channel video about the <a href=\"http:\/\/tropaion.blogspot.com\/2007\/07\/knossos-lost-atlantis.html\">destruction of Atlantis<\/a>. The basic idea &#8212; that &#8220;Atlantis&#8221; was <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Santorini\">Santorini<\/a> (Thera) and Crete &#8212; is not new, but the computer recreations of their cities is excellent. (Bonus: Greek subtitles.)<\/p>\n<p>The Egyptian material at the end is most interesting as well. <\/p>\n<p>A volcanic eruption bigger than <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Krakatoa\">Krakatoa<\/a>, tsunamis, and earthquakes. How well could <em>we<\/em> handle that combination?<\/p>\n<p>Bonus: This Flash animation shows all the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mapsofwar.com\/images\/EMPIRE17.swf\">empires and nations of the Middle East<\/a>. The Minoans don&#8217;t appear, but they would be contemporary with the Egyptian empire.
