That&#8217;s fair enough, since I hit him with the &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/executivepagan.wordpress.com\/2007\/06\/01\/book-pile\/\">book pile photo thing<\/a>.&#8221; (Mine&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chasclifton.com\/2007\/05\/book-pile.html\">here<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>In fact, I read one of his links too: Rod <a href=\"http:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/blogs\/crunchycon\/\">&#8220;Crunchy Con&#8221;<\/a> Dreher.<\/p>\n<p>So, setting aside the uber-bloggers like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.instapundit.com\">Glenn Reynolds<\/a>, here are five who make me think or delight me with their writing:<\/p>\n<p>&bull; <a href=\"http:\/\/ambulancedriverfiles.blogspot.com\/\">Ambulance Driver<\/a> is a funny, often moving, and if you&#8217;re in emergency medicine (which I am not), informative blog about life aboard a Louisiana ambulance.<\/p>\n<p>&bull; <a href=\"http:\/\/rateyourstudents.blogspot.com\/\">Rate Your Students<\/a>, now on summer vacation, is a venting space for academics (which I am). Find out what professors really think of their students&#8217; lame excuses.<\/p>\n<p>&bull; If the universe had take a different twist, I would have become a religion journalist, yet <a href=\"http:\/\/www.getreligion.org\/\">Get Religion<\/a> continues to show me how the job should be &#8212; and more often should not be &#8212; done. In other words, the press just does not &#8220;get&#8221; religion as a motivating factor in human affairs.<\/p>\n<p>&bull; James Lileks <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lileks.com\/bleats\/\">is an artist of blogging<\/a>, even though I do not share all of his preoccupations.<\/p>\n<p>&bull; <a href=\"http:\/\/stephenbodio.blogspot.com\">Querencia<\/a> is written by three guys preoccupied with falconry, archaeology, the literature of natural history and exploration, Central Asia, and dogs. The &#8220;book pile&#8221; meme has been fruitfully applied there.
