{"id":7221,"date":"2015-05-12T11:59:29","date_gmt":"2015-05-12T17:59:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.chasclifton.com\/?p=7221"},"modified":"2015-05-12T11:59:29","modified_gmt":"2015-05-12T17:59:29","slug":"is-the-internet-killing-paganism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.chasclifton.com\/?p=7221","title":{"rendered":"Is the Internet Killing Paganism?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have not been keeping up with my blog-reading, so I just encountered this provocative piece by Sannion at <em>House of Vines<\/em>: &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/thehouseofvines.com\/2013\/03\/25\/theres-a-reason-why-zeus-is-king-of-the-gods-and-hermes-isnt\/\">There\u2019s a reason why Zeus is king of the gods and Hermes isn\u2019t<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He speaks of Hellenismos mainly, but what he says \u2014 as the commenters note \u2014 is broadly applicable.<\/p>\n<p>Briefly, his thesis is that the Internet privileges communicators \u2014 the &#8220;chattering classes&#8221; \u2014 over doers.<\/p>\n<p>Now I am a card-carrying member of the scribal class \u2014 somewhere in the house there should be an old Colorado Press Association ID card, and even rarer, in my desk is my Universal Life Church press pass \u2014 so should I be offended.<\/p>\n<p>Not at all. Sannion makes some interesting points.There is more to Paganism(s) than the blogosphere and Twitter.
