It&#8217;s not always a political thing, <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.chasclifton.com\/2011\/11\/08\/we-did-not-burn-the-landowner-after-all\/\">although one night a local landowner almost got his turn on the fire.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As usual, the daughter of the house carved a Guy Fawkes-themed jack o&#8217; l<a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.chasclifton.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/2014-guy-fawkes-pumpkin.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-6848\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.chasclifton.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/2014-guy-fawkes-pumpkin.jpg?resize=246%2C184&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"2014 guy fawkes pumpkin\" width=\"246\" height=\"184\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.chasclifton.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/2014-guy-fawkes-pumpkin.jpg?w=432&amp;ssl=1 432w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.chasclifton.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/2014-guy-fawkes-pumpkin.jpg?resize=150%2C112&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.chasclifton.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/2014-guy-fawkes-pumpkin.jpg?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 246px) 100vw, 246px\" \/><\/a>antern.<\/p>\n<p>I may live in a community (not a statutory town) of about six hundred, but even we have our moments of globalization.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand \u2014 and my hosts were well aware of this \u2014 had we burnt Salmond in the UK,<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/uk-scotland-29921797\"> it would have been a matter for &#8220;police concern.<\/a>&#8221; In\u00a0 the Sussex town of Lewes, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abreakingnews.com\/world\/police-block-alex-salmond-effigy-from-being-burned-in-lewes-after-one-complaint-h266964.html\">an interesting substitution was made.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The neighborhood celebration of Guy Fawkes\/Bonfire Night happened last night, three nights past the canonical date, but we are southern Coloradans, not necessarily up to date.
