(Of course, the proposers might revise it yet.)<\/p>\n<p>Too often, people think that the definition of &#8220;academic&#8221; writing is (1) writing by people with advanced degrees that (2) no one else would care about.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.acjournal.org\/holdings\/vol1\/Iss2\/special\/parks.htm\">Try this instead<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the writer&#8217;s subtitles:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Scholarship does more than evoke feelings<\/li>\n<li>Scholarship goes beyond self-justification<\/li>\n<li>Scholarship transcends group advocacy<\/li>\n<li>Scholarship makes appeals beyond personal experience<\/li>\n<li>Scholarship utilizes theory in non-cosmetic ways<\/li>\n<li>Scholarship admits to reasoned criticism<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Read the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acjournal.org\/holdings\/vol1\/Iss2\/special\/parks.htm\">whole thing<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is &#8216;academic writing&#8217;?
