One Catholic <a href=\"http:\/\/churchofthemasses.blogspot.com\/\">screenwriter-blogger<\/a> urges her readers to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.christianitytoday.com\/movies\/commentaries\/othercott.html\">watch the vapid <em>Over the Hedge<\/em> instead<\/a>. (It&#8217;s an &#8220;othercott,&#8221; not a boycott.)<\/p>\n<p><em>This film is based on a book that wears its heresy and blasphemy as a badge of honor, and I intend to stay far away from it.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Gnostic Christianity is taking <a href=\"http:\/\/www.canonist.com\/?p=742\">lot of heat<\/a>. Some people do want a <a href=\"http:\/\/slatts.blogspot.com\/2006\/05\/da-vinci-code-protests-are-already.html\">boycott<\/a>. Yet more &#8220;rebuttal&#8221; sites <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/life\/movies\/news\/2006-04-16-opusdei-davinci_x.htm\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you read this blog, you know I am Pagan, not Gnostic. Gnosticism has one root in Platonism, granted, but all that Sophia-and-the-<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Demiurge\">Demiurge<\/a> stuff is not me.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, I would like to point out that the modern Gnostics have a different take on the matter.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, one Gnostic priest has written a &#8220;Da Vinci&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/egina.blogspot.com\/2005\/10\/youre-writing-what.html\">prayerbook<\/a> as well as a <a href=\"http:\/\/egina.blogspot.com\/2005\/10\/youre-writing-what.html\">thoughtful response to the <em>Da Vinci Code<\/em> hoopla<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>M. and I plan to see the film.
