{"id":611,"date":"2006-02-10T15:53:00","date_gmt":"2006-02-10T15:53:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.chasclifton.com\/?p=611"},"modified":"2006-02-10T15:53:00","modified_gmt":"2006-02-10T15:53:00","slug":"611","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.chasclifton.com\/?p=611","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Beer and Vinland<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I sat down last night with a plate of bread, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kingoscar.no\/KingOscar\/main.nsf\/pages\/9E2C97BE536EA24AC1256B3C00330CAE\">King Oscar<\/a> sardines and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arlafoodsusa.com\/C1256FB60043403C\/O\/LHAN6FBLAD\">Rosenborg<\/a> cheese, a couple of bottles of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carlsberg.com\/\">Carlsberg<\/a> beer (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.supportdenmark.com\/\">Support Denmark!<\/a>), and a copy of the Smithsonian&#8217;s illustrated anthology <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amscan.org\/viking.html\"><em>Vikings: The North Atlantic Saga<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s all for inspiration: I am working up to a series of posts on archaeology and ethnicity. But events of the last week threw me off course (more about that later, maybe), and so I am offering this post chiefly as a placeholder and to spur myself to start writing.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, if I kept up that hearty diet, I would be rotund.
