{"id":591,"date":"2006-01-09T02:57:00","date_gmt":"2006-01-09T02:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.chasclifton.com\/?p=591"},"modified":"2006-01-09T02:57:00","modified_gmt":"2006-01-09T02:57:00","slug":"591","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.chasclifton.com\/?p=591","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A forest fire in January<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The same winds that have pushed the grass fires in Oklahoma and Texas for the past couple of weeks have been blowing in southern Colorado too.<\/p>\n<p>Now a forest fire is burning west of <a href=\"http:\/\/chass.colostate-pueblo.edu\/magazine\/2003\/aguilar1.html\">Aguilar<\/a>, just one county south of us. It is called the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.leahs.com\/areainfo\/sanisabel\/apishaparoad.htm\">Mauricio Canyon<\/a> fire. More <a href=\"http:\/\/hosted.ap.org\/dynamic\/stories\/W\/WILDFIRES?SITE=COCOL&#038;SECTION=HOME&#038;TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&#038;CTIME=2006-01-08-19-59-31\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As of this evening it was 5,000 acres and basically <a href=\"http:\/\/www.krdotv.com\/DisplayStory.asp?id=10669\">out of control<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>When I go outdoors, the forest floor is just crunchy dry. Even in 2002, the big fire year, we didn&#8217;t have forest fires in January.<\/p>\n<p>In Denver and other northern parts, however, people are acting like the drought is over, tra-la tra-la.
