Adults show signs of backbreaking work, including high levels of injuries associated with accidents.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have evidence of the most stressed and disease-ridden of the ancient skeletons of Egypt that have been reported to date,&#8221; said University of Arkansas bioarchaeologist<a href=\"http:\/\/anth.uark.edu\/people\/faculty\/rose.php\"> Jerome Rose<\/a> (a National Geographic <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalgeographic.com\/explorers\/grants-programs\/cre\/\">Committe for Research and Exploration<\/a> grantee), one of the team of experts examining the dead. &#8220;Amarna is the capital city of the Egyptian empire. There should be plenty of food . . . Something seems to be amiss.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Wikipedia describes <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Aten\">Akhenaten&#8217;s new religion<\/a>, which imposed on Egypt and which died with him, as &#8220;<a title=\"Monolatrism\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Monolatrism\">monolatristic<\/a>, <a title=\"Henotheism\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Henotheism\">henotheistic<\/a>, or <a title=\"Monotheism\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Monotheism\">monotheistic<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Other ancient Egyptian workers&#8217; skeletons show signs of hard lives, but apparently Amarna&#8217;s workers had it the worst.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Things were hard for the people who built an instant capital city for the Dear Leader.
