{"id":4345,"date":"2012-07-14T18:10:02","date_gmt":"2012-07-15T00:10:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.chasclifton.com\/?p=4345"},"modified":"2012-07-14T18:10:14","modified_gmt":"2012-07-15T00:10:14","slug":"season-of-the-witch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.chasclifton.com\/?p=4345","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Season of the Witch&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On <a href=\"http:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/themediawitches\/2012\/04\/cult-occult-films-occult-films-about-cults-occult-films-with-cult-followings-head-explodes\/\">Peg Aloi&#8217;s recommendation<\/a>, I recently watched<a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0069239\/\">\u00a0<em>Season of the Witch<\/em><\/a>, also known as\u00a0<em>Hungry<\/em> Wives.\u00a0 As Peg mentioned, part of it is witchcraft-meets-Second Wave feminism, and part of it acknowledges the whole &#8220;occult explosion&#8221; of the late 1960s-early 1970s.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe it it is what the old <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0057733\/\">Bewitche<\/a>d <\/em>series would have been if that show had any sort of edge to it.<\/p>\n<p>Or <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0804503\/\">Mad Men <\/a><\/em>with a coven, bumped up to the early 1970s.
