{"id":324,"date":"2004-12-06T00:42:00","date_gmt":"2004-12-06T00:42:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.chasclifton.com\/?p=324"},"modified":"2004-12-06T00:42:00","modified_gmt":"2004-12-06T00:42:00","slug":"324","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.chasclifton.com\/?p=324","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>La Virgen<\/em> as a Goddess<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s <em>Denver Post<\/em> dips a toe into the water with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/Stories\/0,1413,36~171~2567892,00.html\">this story<\/a>  suggesting the the Virgin of Guadalupe might be a goddess&#8211;or at least a pop icon.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Many of us are working to claim her larger cosmological meaning as earth mother,&#8221; says scholar China Galland, author of <em>Longing for Darkness: Tara and the Black Madonna<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rawilson.com\/main.shtml\">Robert Anton Wilson<\/a> made much the same point nearly 30 years ago in an essay in the long-gone Llewellyn magazine <em>Gnostica<\/em>, but who was he?
