{"id":2521,"date":"2011-04-04T10:25:17","date_gmt":"2011-04-04T16:25:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.chasclifton.com\/?p=2521"},"modified":"2011-04-04T11:35:56","modified_gmt":"2011-04-04T17:35:56","slug":"aphrodite-smiles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.chasclifton.com\/?p=2521","title":{"rendered":"Aphrodite Smiles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Back when this blog was young, I wrote a post called &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.chasclifton.com\/?p=86\">Aphrodite will not be Denied<\/a>&#8221;\u00a0 about the botheration caused to some Muslim clerics by the sultry Lebanese singer <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Haifa_Wehbe\">Haifa Wehbe<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If there is anything that drives the mullahs and imams mad, it is female sexuality.<\/p>\n<p>The bloom is off the rose of the recent Egyptian revolution, you may be sure, for now the Muslim Brotherhood, the best-organized political grouping, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jpost.com\/MiddleEast\/Article.aspx?id=215050\">wants to establish Saudi-style morality police.<\/a><\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 235px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Veen Malik\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/media.hotair.com\/greenroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Veena_Malik_300.jpg?resize=225%2C270\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"270\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Veena Malik<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In a<a href=\"http:\/\/hotair.com\/archives\/2011\/03\/28\/video-pakistani-actress-destroys-mullah-who-accused-her-of-immorality\/\"> video at this link<\/a>, the Pakistani actress <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Veena_Malik\">Veena Malik <\/a>rips into a grim-faced mullah who claims that she has &#8220;filled his heart with sadness.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;No one in Pakistan can look at her pictures in the presence of their daughters,&#8221; he rants. (These mullahs can accelerate from <em>reasonable <\/em>to <em>rant<\/em> in 2.4 seconds.)<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t think that her [hypothetical?] son will like to look at his mother&#8217;s pictures in the future.&#8221; (It&#8217;s always all about the boys.)<\/p>\n<p>Whereupon she rips him a new one, suggesting, for example, that he concern himself with Islamic clergy who rape the little boys that they are supposed to be teaching. (Sound familiar?)<\/p>\n<p>In American political discourse, however, <a href=\"http:\/\/hotair.com\/archives\/2011\/04\/02\/why-veena-maliks-smackdown-of-an-egyptian-mullah-was-a-seminal-moment-for-feminism\/\">feminist values too lead to some odd turnings when they conflict with the mainstream media narrative about &#8220;the religion of peace<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>For example, when <em>Time <\/em>magazine ran a picture of\u00a0 a young Afghan woman mutilated by the Taliban for an alleged sexual offense, the <em>New York Times <\/em>dismissed the photo as &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2010\/08\/05\/world\/asia\/05afghan.html?_r=2&amp;adxnnl=1&amp;adxnnlx=1282680007-iS+sUd5QXXNHzqyfJam8kw\">war porn<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And although Veena Malik might be shocked to hear it, I see the power of Aphrodite in her &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/hotair.com\/archives\/2011\/04\/02\/why-veena-maliks-smackdown-of-an-egyptian-mullah-was-a-seminal-moment-for-feminism\/\">smackdown<\/a>&#8221; of the ranting mullah.\u00a0 As as goddess, she can manifest how and when she pleases.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Back when this blog was young, I wrote a post called &#8220;Aphrodite will not be Denied&#8221;\u00a0 about the botheration caused to some Muslim clerics by the sultry Lebanese singer Haifa Wehbe.
