A security guard licensed to carry a pistol, who is &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>2. Supposed to protect US $21,000 at a hotel from &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>3. An armed robber who who inflicts on her &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/2\/low\/asia-pacific\/3527214.stm\"> a fractured skull, a broken nose and left hand, and possible brain damage<\/a> ,&#8221; so . . .<\/p>\n<p>4. She shoots him (and there is no such thing as &#8220;shoot to wound&#8221; when your life is on the line), he dies, and . . . .<\/p>\n<p>5. She is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/pm\/content\/2004\/s1167271.htm\">charged with murder<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Pretty soon I&#8217;m going to start sounding like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kimdutoit.com\/dr\/weblog.php\">Kim du Toit<\/a>, if this keeps up. I&#8217;m glad that I live in a state where what <em>should<\/em> be the common-law right to self defense is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.state.co.us\/defenders\/Library\/Cushon\/96CR0906-Cushon.htm\">written into the statutes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Any Australian readers care to elucidate?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Australian nanny state-ism?
