{"id":1850,"date":"2010-10-14T10:36:51","date_gmt":"2010-10-14T16:36:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.chasclifton.com\/?p=1850"},"modified":"2012-03-06T21:10:33","modified_gmt":"2012-03-07T04:10:33","slug":"veronica-lake-for-halloween","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.chasclifton.com\/?p=1850","title":{"rendered":"Veronica Lake for Halloween"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Australian blog <em>Sexy Witch <\/em>has featured some <a href=\"http:\/\/sexywitch.wordpress.com\/2010\/09\/30\/i-married-a-witch-press-photos\/\">promotional materials from the 1942\u00a0 movie <em>I Married a Witch<\/em><\/a> lately.<\/p>\n<p>It starred <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Veronica_Lake\">Veronica Lake<\/a>, who filled the &#8220;perky petite blonde&#8221; slot in several &#8220;screwball comedies&#8221; of the 1940s, together with banker-turned-actor Fredric March as the descendant of her 17th-century persecutor.\u00a0 Internet Movie Database ha<a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0034881\/\">s more about it<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I saw it years ago, was thinking along the lines of &#8220;Let&#8217;s rent it for Halloween,&#8221; and discovered that Netflix does not have it.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently I rented it in the 1990s from another mail-order video-rental company that no longer exists, but which had a large library of off-beat, foreign, vintage, and &#8220;art&#8221; movies.<\/p>\n<p>So we will watch<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sullivan%27s_Travels\"> <em>Sullivan&#8217;s Travels<\/em><\/a> instead.<\/p>\n<p>UPDATE: &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dirjournal.com\/entertainment-journal\/why-you-should-watch-classic-films\/\">Why You Should Watch Classic Films<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Australian blog Sexy Witch has featured some promotional materials from the 1942\u00a0 movie I Married a Witch lately.
