{"id":1126,"date":"2009-03-06T22:47:00","date_gmt":"2009-03-06T22:47:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.chasclifton.com\/?p=1126"},"modified":"2009-03-06T22:47:00","modified_gmt":"2009-03-06T22:47:00","slug":"blogging-in-fire-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.chasclifton.com\/?p=1126","title":{"rendered":"Blogging in Fire Season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My days this week were split between book-editing, another writing project, and<a href=\"http:\/\/natureblog.blogspot.com\/2009\/03\/nice-little-training-fire.html\"> fire-fighting <\/a>&#8212; or <a href=\"http:\/\/natureblog.blogspot.com\/2009\/03\/on-edge-of-my-chair.html\">worrying about fires<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In late January I joined the little rural volunteer fire department, which seems in a way to embody what the Founders meant by &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/natureblog.blogspot.com\/2009\/02\/newbie-in-militia.html\">militia&#8221; back in the 18th century<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>M. and I also signed up as <a href=\"http:\/\/wildlife.state.co.us\/volunteer\">volunteers for the Colorado Division of Wildlife<\/a> &#8212; we have had one training day and no projects yet, but that will change.<\/p>\n<p>Tonight, Saturday, and Sunday I will be involved with more wild-land fire training. That is our main concern &#8212; stopping wild fires that threaten structures &#8212; rather than structure fires as such.<\/p>\n<p>I have a stack of books to review.
