{"id":109,"date":"2004-02-04T17:15:00","date_gmt":"2004-02-04T17:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.chasclifton.com\/?p=109"},"modified":"2012-05-22T16:27:57","modified_gmt":"2012-05-22T22:27:57","slug":"109","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.chasclifton.com\/?p=109","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>What is Wrong with a Moon God, Anyway?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The fun-loving gang at Chick Publications have a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chick.com\/reading\/tracts\/0042\/0042_01.asp\">new one<\/a>, <em>Allah had no Son<\/em>, which offers evangelical Christians Chick&#8217;s comic-book take on the notion that Allah was originally an Arabic Moon god, which, I suppose, makes Islam a sort of failed polytheism.  Thanks to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.allahpundit.com\">Allah himself<\/a> for the link.<\/p>\n<p>You will find a bibliographic essay on the &#8220;Was Allah a Moon God?&#8221; issue <a href=\"http:\/\/answering-islam.org.uk\/Quran\/Sources\/moongod_bogus_quotes.htm\">here<\/a>, which cites most of the dubious texts out there.  (It&#8217;s a Christian apologetics site.)<\/p>\n<p>The ubiquity of Chick&#8217;s little booklets once led Tim\/Otter\/Oberon Zell of the Church of All Worlds and Pete Davis of the Aquarian Tabernacle to create their own small series of Pagan <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aquariantabernaclechurch.org\/branches-of-the-pagan-tree\">anti-tracts<\/a>, done in the same style and format. The first, <em>The Other People<\/em>, took the approach that since most Western Pagans consider themselves to be neither literal nor metaphorical &#8220;children of Abraham,&#8221; all those Middle Eastern holy books simply do not apply to us.<\/p>\n<p>Chick also champions the anti-Wiccan, anti-Masonic writer Bill Schnoebelen, dealt with effectively <a href=\"http:\/\/www.witchvox.com\/whs\/kerr_schnoebelen1.html\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is Wrong with a Moon God, Anyway?
