M. and I are in deep trouble.<\/p>\n<p>I restricted myself to just two purchases today: Anna Reid&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0802776760?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=chascli-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=0802776760\">The Shaman&#8217;s Coat: A Native History of Siberia<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=chascli-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=0802776760\" alt=\"\" style=\"border: medium none  ! important; margin: 0px ! important; display: none;\" border=\"0\" height=\"1\" width=\"1\" \/> and Giorgia Geddes&#8217; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0304359262?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=chascli-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=0304359262\">Nichivo: Tales from the Russian Front 1941-43<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=chascli-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=0304359262\" alt=\"\" style=\"border: medium none  ! important; margin: 0px ! important; display: none;\" border=\"0\" height=\"1\" width=\"1\" \/>. Both count as &#8220;research.&#8221; (Those are Amazon links, but you can search Powells&#8217; inventory through <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abebooks.com\/\">Advanced Book Exchange<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>And given the heavy emphasis on book-buying at AAR, I still do not understand why someone does not set up a &#8220;pack-and-ship&#8221; booth in the exhibit hall!<\/p>\n<p>The coffee shops are filling up too: &#8220;My dissertation advisor thinks I should go for publication, so he&#8217;s being real hard on me.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Good luck with that.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/3329901\/Teenager-may-have-hanged-herself-while-sleepwalking-inquest-told.html\">spooky story<\/a>, worthy of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fatemag.com\/\">Fate<\/a> magazine.
