Without much preparation, he is thrust into a role of negotiating tribal alliances and trying to determine whom he can trust, all the while facing an invasion.((In other words, 97 percent of human history.)) His people must adjust from celebrating Midsummer with happy lake-jumping and torch-lit Semigallian football matches (Shirts versus Skins) to all-out war.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of the religion, <em>The Pagan King <\/em>punts the football, to use American rather than Semingallian rules. Although there is a wonderful sanctuary of standing stones and caves, the script speaks only of &#8220;the gods who are within us.&#8221; Not even<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Perk%C5%ABnas\"> <i lang=\"lv\">Perkons<\/i><\/a> (Perkunas) is name-checked. On the other hand, Namejs&#8217; wife does appear<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0802124127\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=0802124127&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=soutrocknatub-20&amp;linkId=b88591025216192df38ef461500ff33b\"> to speak a little Snakish<\/a> \u2014 is that a Latvian motif?<\/p>\n<p>The costuming and set design seems to be a spin-off of the 2013\u20132019 History Channel television series <em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Vikings_(2013_TV_series)\">Vikings<\/a>. <\/em>There are not enough beehives in Semegallia to produce wax for that many candles!!<\/p>\n<p>In this movie, however, keep your eye on characters with the shaven head-plus-long beard &#8220;Ragnar Lothbrok&#8221; look.
