{"id":1040,"date":"2008-07-11T15:51:00","date_gmt":"2008-07-11T15:51:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.chasclifton.com\/?p=1040"},"modified":"2008-07-11T15:51:00","modified_gmt":"2008-07-11T15:51:00","slug":"from-morgue-to-magic-and-metaphysics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.chasclifton.com\/?p=1040","title":{"rendered":"From Morgue to Magic and Metaphysics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.chasclifton.com\/graphics\/isisbooks.jpg?w=625\" align=\"center\"><br \/>I stopped by the new home of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.isisbooks.com\">Isis Books<\/a> on my way to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chasclifton.com\/2008\/07\/order-your-crystal-skulls-now.html\">INATS<\/a> last June 30.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s the third home for the Denver area&#8217;s oldest Pagan-oriented bookstore, now about thirty years old.<\/p>\n<p>Chatting with owner Karen Charboneau-Harrison, I asked her what the building at 2775 South Broadway used to be &#8212; Google Maps still shows it as a plain commercial building with columns in front &#8212; until Karen and her husband Jeff turned them into Egyptian pillars.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A morgue,&#8221; she said. &#8220;The stained glass was already here when we moved in.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>They have remodeled the former morgue garage into a set of little offices\/therapy rooms that are rented out to various counselors, massage therapists, etc., which is why the sign out front now says &#8220;Healing Oasis.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The bookstore is in what used to be the chapel, and there is plenty of room for the mail-order operation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I stopped by the new home of Isis Books on my way to INATS last June 30.
