{"id":1039,"date":"2008-07-01T19:33:00","date_gmt":"2008-07-01T19:33:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.chasclifton.com\/?p=1039"},"modified":"2008-07-01T19:33:00","modified_gmt":"2008-07-01T19:33:00","slug":"casual-labor-at-the-new-age-trade-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.chasclifton.com\/?p=1039","title":{"rendered":"Casual Labor at the New Age Trade Show"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.chasclifton.com\/uploaded_images\/switchplate-770316.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.chasclifton.com\/uploaded_images\/switchplate-770311.jpg?w=625\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a>So as I was saying, I briefly <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chasclifton.com\/2008\/07\/order-your-crystal-skulls-now.html\">visited the INATS West show yesterday<\/a>, in the capacity of day labor to help the <a href=\"http:\/\/mythicimages.com\/\">Zells<\/a> take down their booth on its last afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>(You sit on the curb in front of the liquor store until a guy wearing a wizard&#8217;s hat and driving a van with California plates comes along and says, &#8220;Hey, want to eat at an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.raskassas.com\/\">Ethiopian restaurant<\/a>?&#8221;)<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;Street of the Idol-Makers&#8221; was shorter than <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chasclifton.com\/2007\/06\/street-of-idol-makers.html\">last year&#8217;s version<\/a>, due partly to<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sacredsource.com\"> Sacred Source<\/a> now being owned by the same people as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peninhand.com\/\">Maxine Miller Studios<\/a>, or so I&#8217;m told.<\/p>\n<p>The emphatically Pagan switch plate on the right was at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dryaddesign.com\/\">Dryad Design&#8217;s booth<\/a>. Paul Borda has also designed a Green Man version, where the switch forms his tongue.<\/p>\n<p>And suddenly it&#8217;s all over. Dropped steel pipes from someone&#8217;s exhibit frame ring like tolling bells. Castles, temples, and crystal caves lined up in rows collapse into bags and shrink-wrapped pallets.
