Someone Should Burn for This

IMGP2077Seen at the booth of a large, evangelically oriented Christian publisher at the American Academy of Religion–Society of Biblical Literature joint annual meeting.

If anyone had made a bobblehead of John Calvin in 16th-century Geneva, JC would have had the maker burned, most likely. Martin Luther might have laughed, depending how much beer he had drunk.

And bobbleheads do not exist in Middle Earth.

More than likely Calvin would’ve had him drawn and quartered and THEN burned.

And how come they didn’t have one of Jesus??? To quote that song:
“I don’t care if it rains or freezes, just as long as I have my plastic Jesus, riding on the dashboard of my car!”

IIRC, it was the secular government of the city-state of Geneva that burned heretics at the stake (including Michael Servetus), and it did so over the strong objections of John Calvin. But it’s been a very long time since I read up on the matter . . .
